Reduction / Cost Management of Injuries
§
Developed an Injury
Prevention and Management Program that decreased injuries 25% per year for
the first three years it was in place, as a result, a potential cost
savings of one million dollars was achieved.
§
Developed a Return to
Work Policy as part of the Injury Management portion of the Program that
set clear expectations of injured workers and reduced the number of lost
time days and increased the productivity of injured workers.
Management
& Implementation of Safety and Environmental Programs
§
Developed and implemented
safety programs that were not in place including Confined Space, Hazardous
Materials Response, Injury Prevention and Management, Process Safety
Management, and Waste Management.
§
Redefined existing safety
programs to be more effective and meet the requirements of regulations
including Chemical Hygiene, Contractor Management, Hazard Analysis, and
Hazard Communication.
§
Developed a system to
track employee training as projects in research labs change to ensure all
required training is complete.
Environmental
Permits
§
Ensured compliance with
environmental permits including air and wastewater.
§
Worked with Utah
Department of Air Quality to modify existing air permit.
Management
/ Supervisor
§
Managed all aspects of
Environmental Health and Safety Department including supervision of staff,
budgeting, training, program management, and advising management on courses
of action in regards to EHS.
§
Acting supervisor of
supervisors and managers for safety issues including disciplinary actions.
